Road Freight Corridors from Europe and Russia to Iran via Turkey

October 17, 2026

Voltim Global brings its Europe–Turkey–Iran, Russia–Turkey–Iran and Russia–Iran–Turkey transit corridors together with two-way Turkey–Iran road freight under one roof.

Mersin, October 2026. Voltim Global now offers three road freight corridors connected with Iran, together with two-way Turkey–Iran transport, under one roof: from Europe via Turkey to Iran, from Russia via Georgia and Turkey to Iran, and transit from Russia via Iran to Turkey. We have no office, partner or agent in Iran; loading, customs and transit documents, border crossing coordination, tracking and delivery are all managed by Voltim Global.

A corridor, in this context, is a fixed routing that defines which countries and border crossings a load passes through on its way from the origin region to Iran, or via Iran to the destination country. Which corridor suits a given shipment is set in the quotation, based on the loading place, the cargo type and the destination.

Which services are included?

What changed at the Gürbulak–Bazargan crossing in 2026?

Gürbulak–Bazargan is the main road border crossing between Turkey and Iran, connecting the Doğubayazıt district of Ağrı province with Maku in Iran's West Azerbaijan province. According to the Turkish Ministry of Trade, the rebuilt Gürbulak customs gate opened on 27 April 2026: its area grew to 32 hectares, the number of crossing points rose to 20, and around 200,000 commercial vehicles pass through it each year (Turkish Ministry of Trade). During its visit on 13 August 2026, the IRU recommended wider use of TIR Green Lanes combined with advance electronic cargo information to customs (TIR-EPD) across the region (IRU).

How large is Turkey–Iran trade?

According to a table published by the Turkish Embassy in Tehran on the basis of Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) data, Turkey exported goods worth 3.23 billion US dollars to Iran in 2024 and imported goods worth 2.45 billion US dollars from Iran. A report in the Turkish business daily Dünya, based on Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) data, states that more than 90 percent of exports to Iran travel by road. These figures show how central road freight planning is to trade with Iran.

How are transit time and price determined?

Border congestion varies from period to period, and transit time depends on the routing, the situation at the crossings and the characteristics of the cargo. That is why we do not publish fixed transit times or list prices; the trip plan and the rate for each shipment are confirmed in a written quotation.

Who is responsible for sanctions compliance?

Sanctions regimes concerning Iran exist at UN level (reapplied since September 2025; UN Security Council), in the European Union (EU Sanctions Helpdesk) and in the United States (OFAC). Making sure that the goods, the parties and the payment comply with these regimes is the responsibility of the shipper and the consignee; this information is not legal advice.
