CMR Insurance — Carrier Liability
The CMR Convention is the legal framework defining the carrier's liability for goods in international road transport. CMR insurance secures this legal liability, ensuring obligations are met for any damage or loss in road shipping.
CMR Liability Limits
Under the CMR Convention, the carrier's liability is limited to 8.33 SDR/kg gross weight (~12 USD/kg). For high-value cargo this limit may be insufficient; in those cases All Risks marine cargo insurance is recommended in addition.
