Challenge
A significant share of the equipment and materials needed to build the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant comes from manufacturers in Russia. The task we took on for Akkuyu Nuclear JSC is to collect these loads from factories in different Russian cities, clear them through customs in Türkiye and deliver them to the power plant area. The cargo does not leave from a single hub: there are more than 100 loading points stretching from Moscow and St. Petersburg to the Urals and Siberia, and every shipment differs in dimensions, weight and ready date.
Solution
- Loading coordination: Our Moscow office agrees loading dates, vehicle type and documents with the Russian factories before loading.
- Multiple routes: About two thirds of the shipments move on the Tuapse–Taşucu Ro-Ro line and the rest by road via Upper Lars and Georgia. In August 2026 a third overland route via Iran was added, so the line no longer depends on a single route.
- Customs: Customs procedures in Türkiye are handled at Taşucu by our Mersin team.
- Tracking and reporting: Every vehicle is tracked daily from the loading point to delivery, and location and status updates are sent to the client every day.
- Site distribution: On 19 August 2026 a 10-vehicle distribution from Tarsus to the power plant site was completed in a single day.
Result
- By the end of September 2026, 419 trips had been loaded, 400 of which were delivered.
- Annual volume: 98 trips in 2024, 78 in 2025 and 243 in the first nine months of 2026.
- Route breakdown: 282 trips by Ro-Ro, 103 via Georgia and other overland routes, 24 via Iran and 10 Tarsus–Akkuyu site distribution trips.
- Main loading cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Chelyabinsk, Sosnovy Bor, Belgorod, Volgodonsk, Yekaterinburg, Yaroslavl, Izhevsk and Omsk.
