A hydraulic lift to 18.5 metres
According to a World Nuclear News report dated 12 January 2026, the stator - 12 metres long and 4.2 metres in diameter - was raised from floor level to its final position at a height of 18.5 metres using a hydraulic rigging system. Before the operation, the floor of the turbine hall had to be reinforced so that a load of this magnitude could be handled safely. Source
Why the stator matters
Forming the stationary main body of the turbine generator, the stator ranks among the heaviest single pieces of equipment at the plant. Because of its 437-tonne mass and its dimensions, transporting and installing the stator was carried out as a high-precision operation combining a dedicated transport line, floor reinforcement and a hydraulic lifting system.
